Feifan Ouyang, M.D., Ph.D. (Visiting Specialist)

Dr. Feifan Ouyang currently serves as the arrhythmia expert at Shanghai SinoUnited Hospital, and a senior arrhythmia expert at the Department of Cardiology, Eppendorf Hospital, Hamburg University in Germany.Professor and Dr. Feifan Ouyang is an internationally recognized expert in the field of cardiac electrophysiology, with extensive experience in clinical cardiac electrophysiology and ablation for complex arrhythmia and atrial fibrillation catheters. In 1995, he started pursuing his cardiac electrophysiology studies at St. Georg Hospital in Hamburg, Germany, where he later served as the director of the Electrophysiology Department. Under his leadership, the center successfully completed over 2000 catheter ablation operations for atrial fibrillation and complex ventricular arrhythmias annually, thus establishing it as one of the world’s most prominent cardiac electrophysiology centers.Professor Ouyang is widely acknowledged as the pioneer of circumferential pulmonary vein isolation (CPVI) for patients with atrial fibrillation worldwide. He has made significant contributions to the promotion and application of catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation in China. Over the years, he has amassed a wealth of clinical experience in various fields, including the "electrophysiological mechanism of idiopathic verapamil-sensitive left ventricular tachycardia", "anatomical and electrophysiological characteristics of atrial and ventricular tachycardia originating from the aortic sinus", and "radiofrequency ablation of ventricular tachycardia originating from the left ventricular epicardium", among others.Professor Ouyang is often invited to attend major domestic and international conferences as a keynote speaker and for surgical demonstrations. His international colleagues have widely recognized him as "one of the most experienced clinical cardiac electrophysiology and ablation experts in the world". Professor Ouyang has authored over 200 papers in top-tier journals on cardiovascular diseases, with several published as first author in Circulation and JACC. He has also served as the chief editor or co-editor for over 10 monographs. Currently, Professor Ouyang is an associate editor of Europace and a specially invited reviewer for internationally renowned journals on cardiovascular diseases, including Circulation, Journal of American College of Cardiology, European Heart Journal, and Heart Rhythm.In 2008, Professor Ouyang was bestowed with the "Outstanding Achievement Award for Basic and Clinical Research of Atrial Fibrillation in China" by the Chinese Medical Association. In 2013, he received the "Outstanding Contribution Award" at the 6th Annual Conference of the Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society (APHRS).
