Dr. Xiaobing Liu，M.D., Ph.D.（Visiting Specialist)
Dr. Xiaobing Liu currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Vascular Surgery Department and the Executive Director of the Northern Campus of Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine. He is also a Chief Physician, holds a doctoral degree, and a doctoral supervisor, having studied under the renowned vascular surgery expert Professor Mier Jiang.
With over 20 years of clinical experience in diagnosing and treating peripheral vascular diseases, Dr. Liu excels in both open surgery and minimally invasive interventional treatments for complex aortic dissection, thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm, lower extremity arteriosclerosis obliterans, severe limb ischemia, ischemic diabetic foot disease, acute deep venous thrombosis in the lower extremities and its sequelae, varicose veins, and other conditions.
In academic research, Dr. Liu has undertaken more than 10 major projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Shanghai Shen Kang Hospital Development Center's special disease database. His research achievements have been published in over 60 papers in authoritative journals such as "Nature Medicine," "Hypertension," and the top-tier vascular surgery journal "EJVS." He has also obtained 39 authorized invention patents and utility model patents, and has been honored with several awards, including the second prize of the Shanghai Medical Science and Technology Award and the Huaxia Medical Science and Technology Award.
As an outstanding representative of the Shanghai Pujiang Talent Program, Dr. Liu is simultaneously a deputy to the Baoshan District People's Congress and an honorary professor at China Three Gorges University. He shoulders the important task of leading the " Xiaobing Liu Expert Workstation" at Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, dedicated to advancing academic research and clinical progress in the field of vascular surgery.
Furthermore, Dr. Liu is the initiator of the "Jiumai" health science popularization public welfare project and serves as the responsible professor at the Youth Science and Technology Innovation Studio of Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine. He has also served as the instructor for the third and fourth phases of the "Science Popularization Cradle Plan." In 2024, Dr. Liu was selected as an expert for the Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine's "PhD Supervisors Going to the Countryside" program, and he actively participates in the operation of vascular surgery science popularization public accounts "Home of Vascular Surgery" and "Vascular New Youth," dedicated to spreading knowledge about vascular health to the public.
