Weidong Wu, M.D. （Visiting Specialist)
Dr. Weidong Wu is currently the Chief Physician of Gastrointestinal Surgery at the General Surgery Center of Shanghai General Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, He is also the Deputy Director of the Surgical Teaching and Research Section, and Director of Surgical Training Base Teaching.
Dr. Wu specializes in gastric cancer, gastrointestinal stromal tumors, benign gastric tumors, colon cancer, small intestine tumors, rectal cancer, appendicitis, appendiceal tumors, various types of inguinal hernia, ventral hernia and incision hernia, lumbar hernia, hiatal hernia, gastroesophageal reflux, cholecystitis, gallstones, minimally invasive surgery, laparoscopic surgery, and multidisciplinary team collaboration (MDT).
Dr. Wu has studied laparoscopic gastric cancer surgery, transanal total mesorectal excision (Ta-TME), and transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS) in Japan and Hong Kong, significantly increase the probability of anus reservation rates for low rectal carcinoma. He is skilled in minimally invasive surgery for various abdominal wall hernias, ranking among the top three in the first National Inguinal Hernia Repair Video Competition and winning the third prize in the first National Video Contest for Laparoscopic Inguinal Hernia Surgery. He was the first in China to report single-incision laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal hernia repair (SIL-TES). As a pioneer and leader in the field of single-incision laparoscopic hernia repair in China, he is the corresponding author and primary writer of the "Chinese Expert Consensus on Standardized Operation of Single-Incision Laparoscopic Inguinal Hernia Repair (2023 Edition)" and the editor of "Surgical Treatment of Abdominal Wall Hernia".
