Haiqing Cai,M.D., Ph.D. ( Visiting Specialist )

China
Pediatrician/Orthopedics, Chief Physician

Dr. Haiqing Cai, a chief physician and associate professor, currently serves as the chief physician of the Orthopedics Department at Shanghai Children's Medical Center, affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine.

Dr. Cai specializes in the orthopedic management of a wide range of common and complex pediatric musculoskeletal conditions, including hip dysplasia, knee deformities, patellar instability, cerebral palsy, bone disorders, bone tumors, and fractures. She is also highly skilled in arthroscopic minimally invasive repair of knee meniscal and ligament injuries, with extensive experience in addressing complex joint deformities.

Dr. Cai enhanced her expertise through a visit to the North American Arthroscopy Association (AANA) in Chicago, USA, where she received personalized mentorship from former AANA President, Dr. Howard J. Sweeney. This experience deepened her understanding of advanced arthroscopic principles and techniques. Upon her return to China, she pioneered specialized outpatient clinics and arthroscopic treatments for sports injuries in children and adolescents. Her arthroscopic repair techniques for meniscal and ligament injuries are aligned with international best practices. She has developed a unique and comprehensive treatment protocol for various types of patellar instability and excels in employing arthroscopic minimally invasive techniques to manage osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) and various synovial lesions and inflammations.

In 2014, Dr. Cai pursued further training and academic exchange at Basel University Children's Hospital in Switzerland, focusing on the latest advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular disorders, such as cerebral palsy. Her integrated treatment approach—encompassing thorough preoperative assessment (physical examination, imaging, and gait analysis), single-event multilevel surgery, and comprehensive postoperative care (including systematic rehabilitation and orthotic management)—positions her at the forefront of pediatric orthopedic care in China.
